The UIA Round Tables

The UIA Round Tables provide an opportunity to learn through networking and through practice, to meet other international associations and to share experience and knowledge to help you run your organization better.

10th Round Table Asia-Pacific was held on 11 & 12 October 2023 in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The topic of this Round Table was: “Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI), and Sustainability (UN-SDGs): Trends and Practice.”

The pre-event tour included a visit to the hanbok store, changing into a hanbok and visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace, watching the changing of the guards’ ceremony, and an excursion around the Palace.

The UIA Round Table started with the Opening Keynote by Cyril Ritchie, President of UIA and First Vice-President of CoNGO: “War, Peace, Politics, Associations – Chapter 2”, followed by the panel discussion of the invited speakers. After that, there were Case Studies presented by different speakers from different organizations, and they were discussed in small discussion groups according to the participants’ interests.

The second part of the event was the Seoul Tourism Symposium for Global Competitiveness 2023 – “Beyond Tourism: Opportunities and Innovation.” There were also keynote presentations and panel discussions on the topic of the symposium.

There were also two Post-Tours: Sustainability and Eco ones. Sustainability Tour took the participants to three places: Ikseon-dong Hanok Village, Grandpa Factory Café, and Théâtre des Lumières. Eco Tour took place in Seoul Hiking Tourism Center, Bukhansan National Park, Seoul K Medi Center (Seoul Yangnyeongsi Herb Medicine Museum), Gyeongdong Market, and Starbucks Gyeongdong 1960.

In conclusion, the main points of the whole Round Table were around the diversity, equality and inclusion in the modern world, and about the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals which were worked out by the UN in all aspects of education, services and development of the society.
