SMART Objectives for Research Publications on Environmental Sustainability
Specific: To produce peer-reviewed research publications that address key environmental sustainability challenges such as renewable energy, mangrove conservation, and waste reduction, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Measurable: To publish at least 5 sustainability-focused research papers in Scopus-indexed or equivalent journals over the next 2 academic years.
Actionable: Establish a university research task force by Q3 2025, consisting of at least 10 faculty members and graduate students, to identify topics, seek funding, collaborate with communities, and coordinate research outputs.
Relevant: The research publications will support SIU’s mission to integrate sustainability in higher education and promote environmentally conscious innovation, aligning with national and institutional research priorities.
Time-bound: Complete initial literature reviews and proposal submissions for all 5 papers by December 2025, with final manuscript submissions completed by June 2026.
