Statement of Support for Higher Education Governance Policies by Shinawatra University

In the pursuit of excellence in education, Shinawatra University deeply recognizes that students are not only recipients of educational services, but also active participants in the development of the school. Therefore, we particularly emphasize the core role of student representatives in school governance and formally establish this concept through this policy support statement. This policy aims to promote a more democratic and transparent governance system in higher education, encouraging student representatives to preside over and support the establishment and implementation of this policy.

Policy background

With the acceleration of globalization and the rapid development of information technology, modern higher education is facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. In order to meet the needs of the new era and improve the quality and level of education, Shinawatra University has formulated this higher education governance policy based on relevant laws, regulations, and policy guidance, combined with its own actual situation. Specifically, this policy will emphasize the importance of student participation, ensuring that every student becomes a participant and supporter in the development of the school.

Policy objectives

  • Enhance student participation: By establishing a student representative committee, ensure that students can directly participate in the school’s decision-making process.
  • Improve teaching quality: Improve teaching methods based on student feedback, optimize course offerings to meet students’ learning needs.
  • Promote campus culture construction: Create an open and inclusive cultural atmosphere, encourage students from different backgrounds to communicate with each other and grow together.
  • Strengthen internal communication mechanisms: Establish effective channels for information feedback, so that students’ voices can be conveyed to management in a timely manner.
  • Promote sustainable development: Pay attention to environmental protection and social responsibility, and cultivate new era talents with a sense of social responsibility.

Specific measures

  • Establish a Student Representative Committee: The committee is composed of student representatives elected by each department, responsible for collecting and organizing opinions and suggestions from classmates, and regularly reporting to the school.
  • Regularly convene the School Affairs Committee: Organize at least one joint meeting per semester, attended by school leaders, teacher representatives, and student representatives – the School Affairs Committee, to discuss major issues related to the interests of all teachers and students in the school.
  • Establish suggestion boxes and online platforms: Set up physical suggestion boxes on campus and open a dedicated online platform for students to submit suggestions or complaints, ensuring that every student can express their opinions conveniently and quickly.
  • Conduct training activities: Provide necessary training for student representatives to help them better fulfill their responsibilities, understand the school’s operational mode, and effectively participate in governance work.
  • Open and transparent decision-making process: All important decisions must be thoroughly discussed and made public to society through appropriate channels, ensuring the fairness and transparency of the entire process.

The role and responsibility of student representatives

  • Hosting Policy Discussion Meetings: Student representatives will be invited as moderators to participate in discussions on policies related to higher education governance, ensuring that the discussion content is closely aligned with the actual needs of students.
  • Collect and reflect opinions: Actively listen to students’ opinions on school management, teaching arrangements, and other aspects, and compile them into a report to submit to relevant departments.
  • Supervise the implementation of policies: Follow up on the specific implementation of policies that have been passed, propose improvement suggestions when necessary, and ensure that policies achieve the expected results.

Summary

Shinawatra University firmly believes that only when every member can fully participate in school governance can the dual improvement of educational equity and quality be truly achieved. We will continue to strive to build an open, inclusive, and efficient governance system, so that every student can become a witness and promoter of school reform and development. At the same time, we sincerely invite all teachers and students to jointly supervise and support the implementation of this policy, and create a better future together.
